Power comes along with so many sidekicks; if one knows about them one might not be in the desire to acquire it. Unfortunately once one has power most probably one won’t see beyond the aspect of conserving it. The concept drives one to do things that are unimaginable because the rewards are so much desire by us. Fame, Glory, Fortune, Control, and more…
Back in time “Faraóns” will do anything to retain their throne. The obsession goes as far as burying themselves with their wealth. It seems that human life has no value for people with the quest and thirst for this power. History will enrich us with so many events coming across by the passing of time that will prove that hunger for this usual instinct of human to become God. Just to name few on top of my mind I can recall: The African slavery in the 13th century, Irish War of Independence in 1919, The British Empire 16th Century, First and Second World War, Vietnam War, Soviet Union Imperialism and its invasion to Afghanistan for more 10 years, Iraq and Iran War for more than 8 years, and most recently the war against terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I was wondering is there no country that can raise it voice against the massacre of innocent people in these two countries in the name of so called terrorism. The Gulf War led by USA pulled out Saddam’s forces from Kuwait. America pulled the dictator out but took the liberty to stay there to protect the Kuwatis from an apparent reinvasion, which never took place. There were so many statements to invade Iraq that at this point I think American and Allies won’t remember which one was it. I can remember few of them: Weapons of Mass Destruction, Al-Qaeda links to Saddam Hussain, Mad dictator who wasn’t that crazy when he was fighting a war against Iran and the American were official sponsors of that war. Some writers even say that American were sure of the weaponry Saddam had because they sold it to him. The last reason that I can fumble is that America and Allies are in Iraq to give them the blessing of “Democracy.” There is no secret to anyone how many innocent people killed in Iraq, thousands without mentioning the American and Allies casualties. I do remember the Vietnam War where America went there for the same purpose of delivering freedom to the Vietnamese. I think history is made for us to learn from it and not to make the some mistakes over again. I guess it comes to nature by humans to hit the some rock several and still not learn from it.
Afghanistan a nation struck by War most of its existence. Before the American went to find Osama Bin Laden who they found in Pakistan. Soviet Union left a destroyed society and a country by fighting a war for 9 years with no gain at all. America came with the revenge of 9/11 looking for an organization leader and his accomplished, they fought another 10 year war looking for Al-Qaeda and still the War is on till they decide that is no longer profitable. The Government of President Obama is thinking of the Afghan invasion has an error by pulling his troops out soon. On top of that they are glorifying all the killing and destruction by giving the world another country with democracy. Who is so naïve to take that as a reason to end it? History dictates that 1 year of war takes the country back 10 years to underdevelopment, now imagine how many years is Afghanistan in comparison to others countries in the world. Thousands have died in this war of terror. Who is accountable for it?
These war are driven by the simply and unique reason of gaining more power. I think if there is any other reason I would say why not invade Cuba long time back? Why leave Hosni Mubarak for more than 30 years in power? Why leave the mighty China with their communist ideology? Why not invade Soviet Union when they were a superpower itself? I think the question lies in the why? If power can be used to do War why cannot be to love, help, care, share with others. Think about it!
Love to all…
