Home Office

After such a long time something inspired me to write in my blog again. I read in the local few days back that the Home Office has revoke the licence of several colleges, and some colleges have not complied with the requirements of the Home Office, hence their confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) has being cancelled. Obviously without (CAS) the college will not be able to keep its door open. To this point everything is ok, and according to the law everything is working smoothly.
The question to be asked to the government (HO) and the colleges is what will happen to the student who is enrolled in a course in one of these institutions? Or what will happen to the new student who just got admissions? Believe it or not the only answer a student can get from either side is get admission in another college.
The Home Office is too busy giving and cancelling (CAS) that they don’t realize the suffering, and sacrificed of a student and his family has to go through to get the admission fee which is in thousands of pounds. A student’s who has put his dreams to get an education to be a useful citizen either in the UK or his homeland is left with an empty bank account and a notice to appeal the (HO) decision of denying him a visa for study, which will lead to new application in another college not knowing of course if this college will remain as a tier 4 sponsor. At the last instance if the student cannot arrange to fulfilled the (HO) requirements for a new application then is time to go home. Home! Where the students’ family is waiting for him to get back graduated, be able to get a decent job and helped them pay the loan they got to send him to study to the UK.

What sickens me the most is when all these desperate students go back to the college to ask for refunds on the admission fee these people don’t even want speak to them. The one that have the decency to attend their students have a rigid and automated answer “we can’t refund your money, you can go to the Citizen Advice Bureau or a solicitor, your choice” When approached by students both of these entities have the same suggestion: “forget about your money, you will never get it back as you wish, the law protects the college”, how? “Simple they can file bankruptcy” Everybody knows when in default you can’t get anything out from the college.

Now, for every party to be safe, it is very important that the (HO) intervene. I think that the Home Office should regularized and make sure that the college is completed the requirements for having a (CAS). If still the college doesn’t comply with the (HO) then at least make those institutions return some of the money paid.
If there is any other solution to this problem students should be very interested in listening to it, as well as I will be, because I have some friends who really need help.
Thanks…
DiL
