Moharram!

Moharram is around the corner. The month that symbolized the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (a.s.) to save Islam from disappearing from the face of the earth. When i was little, occasionally Mom and Dad use to sit us around, and told us about our religious faith. One thing that i remember clearly like it was yesterday was the book of majlises that Abbu Nasar of  Zaidi Saab who wrote about islam in a very conventional way so that even the most innocent would understand it...if i may quote some of his paragraph...

“Islam and Hussain (a.s.) were two brothers being brought up in the same household with lots of care and love from their carers like Muhammad (s.a.), Ali Murtaza (a.s.), and Bibi Fatima (a.s.). As time goes by Islam is getting sick, the moral attitudes is nowhere around, sins are taking over in most of the places around, and with a ruler like Yazid the increment crimes has grown to the point that has poison Islam’s blood. The only way of saving him is by a blood transfusion. Hussain (a.s.) being his brother is the only person who’s blood is going to match with Islam to make the cure possible. Islam calls ....

“...Hussain (a.s.)  mein bimar hoon. Mujhe theek hone ke liye tumara khoon chahiye. Hussain (a.s.) mujhe bachalo, mera tumara bhai hoon, mujhe marne mat do...”

Being the brother that he was Hussain (a.s.)  gave not only his blood but the heart of a six month old  Ali Asghar (a.s.), the head of his young son who was the “shabee” (lookalike) of his grandfather (nana, Muhammad (s.a.)) Ali Akbar (a.s.),  the arms of his beloved brother Abbas (a.s.), the uncountable pieces of the only son present in Karbala of his brother Hasan (a.s.) Shezada-e-Qasam (a.s.), and the counting of people who were giving their life to safe Islam is not possible... to save Islam the punishment and agonizing pain that Shezada-e-Sajjad (a.s.), Bibi Zainab (a.s.) and many companions had to suffer is impossible to put in words...

Finally, Islam was out of his agony, Hussain (a.s.) had given everything to save his brother from dying.  Islam did promise Hussain (a.s.) till the day I am alive everyone will remember you. Islam is because of Hussain (a.s.).”

“...Islam zinda hai har Karbala ke baad...”

What a nice way to learn about the sacrifice of Hazrat Hussain (a.s.) and his family to save the word of Allah.  After the reading all of us had our eyes full with tears for this love, dedication, passion, right,   shown towards the true path of life. Ammi and Abbu were never strict about choosing the path of their choice but they made sure to provide us with enough knowledge so we could decide which way to go.  I have made my choice ....

Thanks Mom, Dad, and Zaidi saab for guiding us the best way possible...

I leave with a some words that i remember...

“...mein bhi Shabbir de hubdara vich shamil hosa, karke mataam e-wafadaran vich shamil hosa...”
