We defy and anger at that which does not follow norm of discipline.
We are unaware whether we anger at the cause or at ourselves. Mostly it
reflects our own condition. Where does it reside then, many wonder …
How does it pour out frame after frame unless it has a bearing - the anger of frustration, of lost opportunity, of rejection, of unavailable due .. nothing I should say …
They ask me if I had a disturbed childhood !!! Ha ! No .. my dear, I had a most balanced and perfect childhood where there never was any expectation of desire or want or distress of any social want. As children you do not have knowledge of materialism or anything related to it. But when you do realize, you also realize what can be attained and what cannot. Many at that stage, if they have the mental development, wonder and query why the other has more than what they would want to have for themselves. This has a very short life. In the process of growing up our activities are so distractive, we never ponder when and how they were to be in a position of their friend across the street, and why was it that he or she had more than yourself. But soon, it dawns through either self realisation or from educated responses from the elders, that there shall always be limits and differences. At times this brings about a defining moment, but I would imagine it would be short lived.
Yet … there are also those that determine their life ambitions at an early age and then get down to achieving it. Their lives become single purposed. They have but one goal, one destination. They do not rest until, they have achieved it, or realised that they shall never be able to.
Those that have the blessings to have acquired what they would never have imagined in a lifetime, bless their fate, their destiny, their bringers to the world, for their prayers. And quite surprisingly often remind not just themselves but all those that come in contact with them what a miserable life they grew up in and how they now have what they always secretly desired - material gain !!
For many it is a situation that dents the very foundation of their minds. It is believed by them that that was what they should have had in the first place. And that had it not been for so many wrongly blamed circumstances, they would have been there much earlier. There is pride in achievement and pride in letting others know what it is.
I may not necessarily agree with the attitude that these now well heeled express, but I shall appreciate always the efforts made by them in following a dream and winning it.
I fear flaunting. It always has an omen attached to it. That of it disappearing from your existence altogether. The subsequent shame and embarrassment that follows it, can be unbearable. Yet many do so, because it may be giving them the satisfaction of vented anger that could have troubled them in the early years !
The only fear that I forsee for such, is the fear of competition. Mine is bigger and better than yours. And that then starts a war, not of living, but of living to beat the other always. What does one achieve from it all ? When you have left this world, you shall be able to carry nothing with you, even if you were Tutankhamun !
You could be remembered, as does this Royalty of Egypt, in vast and treasured secured museums, but nothing more !!
I may not want to do away with competition altogether. But for me it would rather be to compete with my security, and the security of those that I brought into this world. There may be that little offering or consideration for those that held your hand in times of strife and struggle, but that I would rather perform during life, not when it has left us ..
And talk … what about the element of talk ? I did this, I did that, that is what I achieved, this is what I earned, this my asset, and this my security.
Really ?? Does it really raise your standard or add to what you may have acquired ? Remember this … there shall always be another round the corner that shall be bigger and stronger than what you think you are ! If you want to pump your muscle, do it in that one place which aligns itself with the honest truth. Your bathroom mirror ! For me that is the greatest leveller of all … stand before it and see for yourself, your worth, your standing, your accomplishment. And if there is difficulty in keeping away from it in public. Carry that mirror with you wherever you go, and keep looking into it as often as you can … you shall be shocked how silently yet relentlessly it shall speak to you, about you !
May it be a friend, a lover, an associate, a companion … what ever. But may it just be … with you or without !!
My love to all those that spend their time as often as they can in front of their respective mirrors. Respective is important. Many attempt to look into the others’ …
